New Year, New Hope for a Cleaner Ocean

It’s a new year, which means time for new hope, and new resolutions about the coming months.

So often, resolutions are forgotten by February, but I hope that by posting mine here, I will be held accountable.

happy 2014!
happy 2014!

My first resolution is that I would like to be part of the solution and not part of the problem in regards to pollution in our ocean.  This means: picking up trash on EVERY dive, picking up cigarette butts from the ground, not using products that I know negatively affect the ocean (like facial exfoliants with PLASTIC microbeads in them).

My next resolution is to write 3 posts a month for my Merbabe Blog, so I can continue to learn, grow, and challenge myself.

My final resolution is to continue my education, formally and informally.  I intend to take at least 2 formal classes this year to further my education either about diving, First Aid, or the ocean.  The informal education comes from spending time with knowledgeable people, asking questions when I do not know the answer, and truly researching when I want to learn something.  Wiki answers gives you the quick answer: but if you don’t really teach it to yourself, you didn’t really learn it.

*year of the penguin isn’t an “official” thing.
